Wednesdays @ 1:00 pm: New Jersey Films
The New Jersey State Museum is proud to offer free educational films about New Jersey's scientific, fine art, and cultural heritage every Wednesday at 1:00 pm. These films compliment one of the Museum's exhibitions or a particular month's heritage theme. Extend your Museum visit by adding a free film to a School Day performance and a tour through an exhibition. All film screenings begin promptly at 1:00 pm in the Museum Auditorium.
Reservations are not required - seating is on a first come, first serve basis, please call (609) 292-6347 for current schedule.

Branch Brook Park: Legacy of the Gilded Age traces Branch Brook's origin as the first park in the Essex County Park System and looks at its development, realization and expansion to its present-day 360 acres. The program is narrated by CBS News veteran Charles Osgood. This program was made possible in part by a grant from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Tucked away within the thousands of acres of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in rural northwest New Jersey is Peters Valley Craft Education Center. From mid-fall to early spring, this peaceful environment is home to a handful of artists, all focusing on honing their skills. There's blacksmith Maegan Crowley, who forges metal into organic patterns and shapes inspired by seed pods, bugs and other elements of the vast wilderness surrounding her workshop.
Bruce Dehnert is in charge of the ceramics department, and is the active caretaker of the education center's world-renowned anagama kiln. Karen Henderson weaves abstract compositions as well as her own line of clothing from natural fibers and dyes. This documentary special focuses on the life of Peters Valley Craft Education Center, as well as the unique history of the organization and its place in one of America's most beautiful national parks. NEW PROGRAM - In this four part series host Megan Gunning explores the connection between people and local food and land, discovering the freshest produce, learning how it's grown and, with the help of experienced chefs, demonstrating how to serve up the harvest of the Garden State in delicious meals. With a growing demand for local food, the number of farmers markets in New Jersey are increasing, offering a rich array of Jersey Fresh produce, artisan cheese from grass-fed cows, golden honey, eggs from free-range chickens, homemade bread, freshly baked pies, and so much more.
